Pre-requisite qualifications

Normally satisfactory completion of the 2nd year BHSc (Hons) Radiography or equivalent.

This module is not approved as an Elective

Objectives

To evaluate the factors involved in radiographic pattern recognition; to analyse patterns of injury/disease; to assess a radiograph for demonstration of pathology under consideration; to appraise the criteria involved in the acceptance/non-acceptance of radiographs.

Syllabus

Consolidation and further development of the principles of radiographic pattern recognition with an emphasis on differential diagnosis; pathology of the musculo-skeletal system; pathology of the thoracic region; pathology of the abdominal region; patterns of injury; aids to differential diagnosis; decision making skills with respect to radiography.
