Module summary

This module seeks to provide students with an understanding of some key issues relevant to studying any law module. This covers consideration of the sources and methods of English law - including judicial precedent and the interpretation of statutes with reference to legal reasoning under the Human Rights Act 1998 and European Union law.The course will also include consideration of the court structure and analysis of aspects of both civil and criminal procedure.

Objectives

To introduce students to the nature of a legal system as more than a body of rules, and involving people, institutions and procedures. It introduces students to the basic structures and concepts developed in other modules.

Syllabus

This module seeks to provide students with an understanding of some key issues relevant to studying any law module.
