Module summary

The purpose of this module is to introduce you to topics and concepts within the area of Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility.The module aims to give you the knowledge and skills to understand how businesses are responding to current ethical isues.Case study examples will be used to underpin classroom discussions. Discussion, debate and participation are encouraged throughout and form an essential part of this unit, drawing on experiences of the group; disussion of first hand and personal examples is actively encouraged.You will engage in developing your confidence in digital skills by working on preparation tasks before face to face sessions and through research and preparation for the presentation

Objectives

The aim of the module is to provide students with an understanding of how businesses are responding to the contemporary ethical issues being faced

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
-Identify and explain the ethical issues faced by specific organisations
-Apply appropriate tools and techniques to assess the effectiveness of an organisation's social responsibility policy
-Choose appropriate recommendations to facilitate the development of ethical and CSR business practices.

Skills outcomes
You will engage in developing your confidence in digital skills by working on preparation tasks before face to face sessions and through research and preparation for the presentation

-Stakeholder theory of the firm
-Models of ethical decision making
-Alternative perspectives on ethical theory
-Business ethics management
-Ethics in a Financial Context
-Assessing ethical performance
-Ethical issues in corporate governance
-Government, regulation and business ethics
-Ethics in a global context
