Module summary

This is a capstone module that provides students with an opportunity to bring together what they have learnt on the taught part of the programme by undertaking a people analytics research project that they undertake independently with the guidance of an academic supervisor.

Objectives

The aim of the module is for students to plan, research and deliver a people analytics project that is analogous to the type of project that a people analytics team or consultant would undertake in practice. This could involve qualitative research to scope and define the type of data and quantitative analysis that would be needed to answer a business question or quantitative analysis using organisational data, or a combination of the two approaches. The module provides an opportunity to apply and synthesise knowledge and skills developed in the taught part of the programme.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Utilise the conceptual and applied thinking obtained from the taught part of the programme to conduct a people analytics project related to a contemporary people analytics issue.
2. Acquire, critically analyse and present conceptual and empirical material derived from primary and secondary sources using appropriate academic rigour.
3. Implement an appropriate research design under guidance and supervision of a faculty supervisor.

- Five taught sessions will introduce research methods and approaches not encountered through the statistics and data for people analytics module (for example, realist review and evaluation, ethnography, qualitative interviews, systematic reviews) and provide guidance on the development of a project idea.
