Objectives
On completion of this module, students will be able to:- Engage in independent research and be able to identify and critically review the relevant literature;
- engage in critical evaluation of the material studied;
- identify and apply the conceptual understanding and practical research skills necessary for the thorough and coherent exploration of their chosen topic;
- present a clearly structured and written argument relating to the material studied;
- use appropriate referencing systems in presenting arguments.
Syllabus
Students will follow an individual programme under the guidance of the module leader and appointed supervisor. The dissertation should demonstrate a substantial knowledge of the relevant literature and incorporate data from the observational components of the course. A draft outline of the dissertation should be submitted to the course committee for approval by 31 March of the second year.
