Objectives
Aims:- To enhance students' awareness of their transferable skills so that they can build on their strengths and improve weaknesses in order to make the most of degree programme opportunities and prepare for their future careers;
- to help students understand potential career paths
-to practice the report-writing skills required for their mapping dissertation, and to prepare for their summer mapping via supervisor-led mapping tutorials.
Syllabus
- review of personal and transferable skills to compile careers documents such as CVs
- improve oral presentation skills with practice and training in giving talks
- enhance transferable skills such as team work
- improve written communication and scientific skills by undertaking literature searches (paper and computer database) related to the geology of a particular region;
- preparing a professional standard geological field report based on a desk-top exercise (in lieu of a field class cancelled due to Covid-19).
