Module summary
This module builds on the information the student gained from level 1 and 2, to further develop the student's appreciation of radiological presentation of a variety of injuries and pathologies. The inextricable linkage with HECS 3078 Pathophysiology enables the student to appreciate the development of a pathological process prior to the visualisation on radiographic images. Through the critical assessment of radiographic images the students can follow the radiological changes over time and relate these to the pathophysiological process. This module will provided the student with the underpinning skills required for commenting, that will be undertaken in the Professional Practice III.Objectives
On successful completion of this module, you will be able to:evaluate the factors involved in radiographic pattern recognition;
evaluate patterns of injury;
evaluate patterns of disease;
critically assess radiographs for radiological demonstration of pathology and injury;
explore the radiographers contribution to the patients pathway.

Syllabus
Decision making, Limitations and confidence, Patterns of disease and injury and deviation from normality, Principles of Pattern Recognition and Report Writing, influences on image interpretation, Skeletal pathology, Chest and Abdominal pathology and injury.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Tutorials: -The tutorials are designed to help the student with identifying problem areas and providing the student with a structured approach to aid your understanding of the topics covered. For these sessions to be of use it is important that the student takes an active part in identifying areas of difficulty a couple of weeks prior to the scheduled tutorial.Practical: - this allows for discussion to permit the development of rationales to accept various points of view and develop justification to support the students view. Allows the student to practice their commenting of skills.
Assignment discussion:- the student is strongly encouraged to discuss outlines of their assignment with the module team. This is to enable the student to clarify aspects of the guidelines as well as discussing various approaches to be adopted.
Group learning:- students are to bring along cases for discussion with clinical experts.
