Module summary

This module is aimed at you if you are a student interested in exploring how image, music and text can be used to convey ideas. The module will culminate in the production of an individual creative project which engages with the intersections between these aspects of the module.

Objectives

This module will give an overview of image, music and text. It will consider the ways in which knowledge is developed in these areas and will look at primary and secondary sources. It will focus particularly on approaches and examples from within interdisciplinary creative practice to illustrate these areas. By the end of the module, students will produce an individual creative project (including a portfolio of development and a final outcome piece, for example, a film (2 mins), photo-journal (12 pages), podcast (5x 2 min pieces), website (3 distinct pages) or digital story (12 pages)) and a reflective creative commentary that incorporates their learning on the intersections between two aspects of image, music and text. This will be accompanied by an annotated bibliography. The module will also particularly focus on the development of skills in the communication of a creative outcome and aspects of critical reflection.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this module students will be able to:
-Demonstrate a critical and creative awareness of the use of image, music and text though a case study focused on two specific elements (i.e. image and music, music and text, or image and text).
-Develop a creative portfolio including a final creative product which responds to module themes.
