Module summary
On this module, we consider the role of creativity, innovation, branding and ethics in different kinds of organisations. It will enable you to reflect on your own relationship with creativity in relation to work and academic study, and it will involve developing a critical understanding of the role creativity and innovation play in how different organisations work to create change.Objectives
This module will introduce students to key theories of creativity and innovation in order to:- Enable them to reflect on their own developing relationship to creativity within academic and professional contexts
- Help them develop an understanding of how to apply these theories to an analysis of how different organisations use creative and innovative approaches to enable change
It will take an interdisciplinary approach drawing on theories and approaches from business studies, the philosophy of creativity and sociology. The teaching will be interactive, enabling students to learn how to understand and apply theories to their own experience and to different case studies within collaborative, stimulating and creative workshops and seminars.

1. Explain and discuss theories of creativity and innovation
2. Reflect on own relationship to creativity, drawing upon appropriate theories of creativity and innovation
3. Demonstrate understanding of how organisations use creative problem-solving to create or facilitate change
4. Critically evaluate organisations in relation to their creative problem-solving, marketing and ethics by appropriately applying research and theory
5. Demonstrate understanding of how to develop own ideas of creative problem solving through analysis of the organisation’s approach

Syllabus
The content will cover areas such as:
- Theories of creativity and innovation
- Reflective models
- Different kinds of organisations such as businesses, social enterprises and charities and how they work to create change
- Visual culture, marketing and branding of organisations
- Corporate social responsibility and ethics in organisations

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
The teaching will be interactive, allowing students to test out ideas and get feedback in the teaching sessions. In addition, students will get an opportunity to get feedback on a draft of their presentation slides and to talk through their presentation plans with one of the tutors. Further, students will practice critiquing organisations together in designated assignment guidance workshops and get feedback on their ideas. Finally, students will be able to get feedback on a partial draft of their final written work.Methods of assessment
