Module summary

The Arab-Israeli conflict is one of the most relevant socio-political crises of our time, accompanied by heated controversies that have led to the formation of conflicting historical narratives. This discussion led course will create a space for students to engage with these narratives, utilising a wide range of sources, and reflecting upon a number of key historical events and themes through different historiographic perspectives

Objectives

The module aims to engage students in some of the major debates surrounding the Arab-Israeli conflict in both its domestic and international contexts.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Critically assess the origins of and key developments in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
2. Evaluate the conflict using concrete historical examples and providing 'long view' on a current issue.
3. Assess the historiographical controversies surrounding this topic.

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
4.Develop positive working relationships with team members in group work.
5. Apply effective approaches to communicating historical findings
6. Manage time and resources well and prioritise work efficiently and productively to meet deadlines.
