Module summary

This module offers students a practical introduction to essential interpreting skills through a blend of conceptual knowledge and practical experience in exploring basic approaches to interpreting. In addition to providing an examination of the contexts in which the different forms and modes of interpreting are practised, it offers practical advice and training in the skills (memory, analytical skills, note-taking, expression, general knowledge, and presentation skills) required for basic interpreting, creating a platform from which to pursue more intensive interpreting study if desired. Exercises will generally be monolingual.
