Programme specification:

On completion of the programme, students should have provided evidence of being able to:

- Understand, apply and use a range of scholarship, including recent research, in the study of and interaction between religion, society, and politics

- Demonstrate various techniques of analysis and enquiry including those from Religious Studies, Politics and Sociology

- Understand theoretical, methodological, contextual and ethical debates surrounding religion in public life in the UK and internationally

- Demonstrate proficiency in the application of method and theory through independent research including fieldwork studies

- Identify and develop their specific interests and skills, develop their own informed opinions and undertake autonomous study

- Demonstrate interpersonal and intellectual skills required for working with plurality in and between religions, with familiar and unfamiliar viewpoints, and with views that differ radically from one's own

- Demonstrate ability for understanding, living and working reflectively and responsibly within a plural society through the development of knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate for personal development, professional employment and further study in a (post-) secular society where religious issues remain influential, though are often unrecognised
