Entry requirements:
- Prior learning to Level 6 (undergraduate degree or equivalent)
- Either: a post graduate teaching qualification (Diploma; Post Graduate Certificate; Masters) and/or minimum 2 years fulltime or cumulative experience of teaching in higher education or teaching English for Specific Purposes.
- Minimum English language expertise at 7 overall in IELTS with a minimum of 7 in all components; C1 CEFR

Programme specification:
This programme allows you to develop a deeper understanding of the role of language within Higher Education, enhancing your ability to work in the field of English for Academic Purposes, educational development, learning advice.
You will explore the theoretical foundations of academic communication, cultures and contexts, uniting this broad theoretical base with pedagogical practice. You will focus particularly on the practices and pedagogies of language in education and consider knowledge, politics and cultures in academia. The programme will give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills that will enable you to contribute to the future shaping of the field as well as the opportunity to develop a wide range of attributes and transferrable skills, including linguistic and intercultural competence, analytical skills, communicative skills and critical thinking. You will also develop your ability to undertake research and engage in scholarship around your professional practices, providing opportunities to publicly engage with the field through dissemination of your work.
The programme is:
- flexible. You can also choose from two start dates - either September or January. You can opt to build your own programme to either Certificate, Diploma or Masters level.
- enriched by elective modules allowing for extension and specialisation in a range of issues that impact on teaching and learning in international Higher Education.
- innovative in teaching and assessment methods, fostering collaborative practices and developing professional networks of peer support combined with personalised guidance from tutors.
- primarily taught through small-group seminars using varied methods to allow you to take control of your learning.
- assessed mainly through coursework, offering you a wide range of creative and innovative assessments.
- We also offer all modules as online short courses enabling you to build up credits over a six-year period and exit with a qualification.
