Programme specification:

The programme will help you to develop an in-depth knowledge of skills, perspectives and current research in digital education. You will have opportunities to apply and reflect on this new knowledge in relation to both your own learning and to your professional context. As the programme is aimed at work-based professionals, you will immediately see the relevance of programme content to the practice of digital education. The dialogic online distance learning delivery of the programme, is underpinned by a social learning ethos, with both ‘input’ material from tutors and regular student discussions and offers extensive opportunities to learn with academic staff as well as co-learners. The range of digital tools now available and the variety of backgrounds and settings represented by the students leads to genuine reciprocal learning between tutors and students. In a field where research can often overstate conclusions from short-term interventions, students will learn to approach research critically and develop skills to carry out projects and evaluations in their own professional settings both during and after the programme.

You will be encouraged to apply and evaluate theories and models of learning relevant to digital and online education within your professional context. You will develop the skills to use and evaluate technologies that are currently available and be able to look towards future developments in the field. You will develop strategies to manage your own CPD in a fast-moving area and be able to support others.
