Programme specification:
The MSc in Sustainable Business Leadership draws on expertise from leading academics at Leeds University Business School and the School of Earth and Environment. This multi-disciplinary approach provides students with academic knowledge and practical skills on the key business and sustainability issues facing organisations and society.
Through studying the programme students will initially develop an understanding of the fundamental issues to do with business, sustainability, policy and governance. In addition to this students will learn about economics however, in keeping with the contemporary nature of the programme the learning will focus on ideas and principles related to ecological and circular economics. Following on from this student will study a series of modules which will enable them to identify sustainable opportunities and lead the development and delivery of sustainable strategies. Given the complexities associated with business and sustainability students will also study a series of modules which provide the required skills and insights to enable decisions to be made in a clear and logical manner, drawing on relevant information and data.
Sustainability, business and leadership are complex subjects. In order to help students appreciated the associated complexities and relationships the programme adopts a systems approach. This approach provides students with a holistic view of the key issues and an appreciation of the interconnections between the elements, the tensions between them, and the implications of the natural world at different levels of business activity. It considers the role
that business can play in solving global and local sustainability challenges.
The programme is studied 100% online. The materials for each module are developed by leading academics from the University of Leeds and the University’s own Digital Education Service. The high quality materials coupled with the online format enables students to manage their studies alongside other commitments, studying at a time, place and pace to suit their own needs.
Students will normally study one module at a time.
