Entry requirements:
- Normally three A-levels or equivalent, at grades AAA, including mathematics or physics.
- GCSEs or equivalent in English, mathematics and science are required at grade C or above if not offered at A or AS level.
- Alternative qualifications (eg IB, Foundation Year, Scottish Highers) at a comparable level will be considered.

Programme specification:
At the end of the programme students should:
- have the necessary core knowledge, abilities and skills to pursue a career in airlines, airports or associated aviation industries, or to undertake postgraduate research in an aviation related subject;
- have an understanding of the fundamental principles of flight and propulsion;
- have an understanding of aircraft design, systems and performance;
- have an understanding of the aviation industry, with respect to its organisation, control and legal framework;
- have a working knowledge of a modern European language;
- have studied core subjects related to the JAR requirements for flight crew licensing.
The programme will:
- provide an academic qualification which will allow graduates to compete effectively for training places to Commercial Pilot Licence level and ultimately for senior positions as airline pilots;
- provide graduates with a wide range of knowledge, abilities and skills of value to the aviation industry;
- allow an option of an Industrial Placement year;
- include business and language modules which should increase employability in the international environment;
- include module teaching from external experts in their fields, such as Chief Flying Instructors and practising commercial airline pilots, as well as guest speakers;
- include team based final year project work, often associated with external organisations. Projects particularly appropriate for management students are available (eg in association with Leeds-Bradford Airport).
Students on this industrial placement programme have the opportunity to spend a year in industry between the second and third year. The Careers Service assists in finding suitable placements, which are then monitored by the School during the year. These are likely to be with airlines or airports.
The aim is to enhance employability on graduation, by giving relevant experience and additional skills and training.
