In detail, the programme will provide students with a broad overview of:
1. the power and limitations of computer systems;
2. the potential of technological developments in hardware and software for supporting and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of systems;
3. the application of good practice in the design and construction of software and information systems.
The programme will:
- provide students with an appreciation of the mathematical, theoretical and conceptual foundations of computer science;
- provide students with the analytic, design, engineering and evaluation skills necessary to specify, develop, test and implement information and software systems;
- provide a sound basis for acquiring high competence in computer programming;
- enable students to gain specialist knowledge in research areas in which the School excels;
- prepare students for the computer industry so that with the appropriate experience they will reach the highest professional standards.
