Programme specification:

The programme will aim to:
- introduce students to the major branches of mathematics and geography;
- meet the needs of students with varied mathematical and scientific backgrounds and with different aspirations;
- enable students to appreciate the coherence and logical structure of mathematics, and its applicability to geography;
- impart an awareness of the values of research and scholarship in mathematics and geography;
- prepare students to work in fields where specific and broadly based advanced mathematical knowledge is required;
- enable students to embark on research in some area of mathematics, statistics, or geographical sciences.

To progress to Year 3, in addition to the usual progression requirements, students must have passed at least 40 credits in Mathematics modules and at least 40 credits in Geography modules.

Students must enrol on exactly on 120 or 125 credits, including at least 100 credits at level 3, with at least 40 credits of level 3 Mathematics, and at least 40 credits of level 3 Geography modules. EDUC3060 counts as Mathematics modules for this purpose.

Note: Starting in 2016/17 students will be required to enrol on a final year project module.

Optional modules:

Students must choose between 40 and 85 credits from lists A and B with at least 2 modules from list A. Students can enrol in at most one of the project modules MATH3000, MATH3001, GEOG3600, GEOG3520, GEOG3820.
