Total credits: 180
Entry requirements:
BSc (Hons) at least 2ii classification or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Biology or a related discipline
School/Unit responsible for the parenting of students and programme:
Centre for Molecular Nanoscience (CMNS)
Examination board through which the programme will be considered:
The inter-University Nanoscale Science & Technology examination committee will deal with this programme, along with the Nanoscale Science & Technology MSc, MSc Nanoelectronics & Nanomechanics, MSc Nanomaterials for nanoengineering andBionanotechnology
Programme specification:
The programme will be the fourth in the Nanofolio portfolio of inter-related nanotechnology masters programmes. The Bionanotechnology programme will have particular appeal to graduates of biology and biochemistry degree courses, and thus represents an expansion of our target student market. Expansion of the nanotechnology Masters activity will consolidate Leeds/Sheffield's position as the leading provider in this field.
The programme will be delivered jointly by Leeds and Sheffield Universities, using the well established administrative model which has been successfully demonstrated for the existing nanofolio programmes. The dedicated Learning and Teaching and Examination Committees responsible for the 3 current Nanofolio programmes will be readily able to handle this latest, inter-related nanotechnology MSc.
Students will be based at either one or other site. Whilst all students will be expected to attend all lectures, the fact that students will be distanced from some module leaders outside lecture hours means that remote learning support is necessary. This is provided by a combination of paper based and computer based resources, including web-based course material and supplementary notes.
