Programme specification:
Programme Specific aims:
- Assessed modules provide training in research methods. These are designed to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the nature and design of research.
- Students will receive training concerned with personal effectiveness, presentation and communication, including oral presentation; research paper writing; proposals and poster presentations. They will participate in the DTC seminar programme, presenting and sharing their research with their peers and observing and critiquing presentation and research.
- Students will develop media training skills and the public understanding of science, including developing packages for school, participation in public events organised by universities, research councils and professional bodies, and take part in the Researchers in Residence Scheme.
- Training will incorporate enterprise, knowledge transfer and commercial awareness, for example the understanding of intellectual property rights. Students will be encouraged to participate in enterprise activities such as the Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs.
