Public Health has been defined as the science and art of promoting and protecting health and well-being, preventing ill-health and prolonging life through the organised efforts of society. An understanding of Public Health is key to the development of rational and effective Health Care services. Equipping tomorrow's doctors with the essential skills to understand the drivers behind population health will improve both professional practice and healthcare provision for the population.
