Entry requirements:
A degree equivalent to a UK upper second class honours (2.1) degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; or a good lower second class (2.2) honours degree accompanied by demonstration of specific competence in electronic and/or electrical engineering.

Programme specification:
Industry and the wider world have needs for both specialists and people with broader knowledge. Engineers who can cross boundaries between disciplines and see connections between them are in demand today. Many products contain a range of technologies - digital TV design includes radio frequency, communications, logic circuits, embedded processors and software.
This programme gives you a broad knowledge of electronic engineering, but also allows you to select specialist modules to match your interests. It will help you meet industry’s need for engineers with postgraduate training, who can understand both the overall project and the detail. A major attraction is the unique contribution from the School's internationally famous research centres.
Most modern electronics includes embedded processors. This MSc programme offers a choice of a basic programming course for those who are less confident, and an advanced course for those with more experience.
At the end of the programme, students should have a thorough understanding of both the theory and the new practices in this rapidly developing subject. This will include their choices from digital communications, radio systems, FPGA and VLSI design, embedded systems, software, control systems, nanotechnology, power electronics and renewable energy.

NOTE: ELEC3560 is a pre-requisite for ELEC5562M. ELEC5562M may only be taken by students who have taken ELEC3560 or an equivalent module. Students may not take both ELEC5562M and ELEC5565M.
In order to qualify for the award of the MSc degree, students must satisfy the following conditions:
i) Obtain passes in modules with a total credit value of at least 150;
ii) Obtain a mark of at least 40% in any ELEC assessment component which is worth more than 4.5 credits out of this 150
credit total;
iii) Obtain an overall average programme grade of at least 5.0;
iv) Obtain a mark of at least 40% in any failed modules.
