Programme specification:

This programme has three distinct but interrelated areas of study:
- Language Studies introduces understandings of how languages are learnt and can be taught.
- Education Studies covers social, psychological and educational aspects of child development and provides a context for the study of language and language teaching.
- Foreign Language Studies includes modules in Advanced English Language for international students and, for all students, the study of an additional foreign language.

The programme provides opportunities to become multi-lingual and the opportunity to be prepared and supported for the study of an optional, additional teaching qualification. This qualification, the CELTA, is an internationally recognised professional qualification in the teaching of English as a foreign language.

Student whose first language is English are required to study and pass a foreign language 20 credit module.

Non-native English speaking students are required to study and pass ELU 1002 English for Communication.
