Programme specification:

At the end of the programme students should:

- an in-depth knowledge and understanding of social and public policy informed by current scholarship and research, including a critical awareness of current issues and developments in the subject
- the ability to study independently in the subject
- the ability to use a range of techniques and research methods applicable to advanced scholarship in the subject.
equipped to enter doctoral study in social or public policy or a related subject or to take up employment


The programme will:

- Be one of the first programmes of its kind in the discipline.
- Provide students with the opportunity to develop their learning through placement and project opportunities
- Allow students the opportunity to contribute to the local community through direct engagement with community organisations and local employers
- Provide students with the skills required for Doctoral level study or higher level employment
