Programme specification:
The aim of the Leeds MSc in Business Psychology is to provide students with a detailed, state-of-the-art understanding of the psychological factors that influence the effectiveness of modern work organizations, in their key behavioural spheres of activity. The LUBS MSc will occupy a unique position in the marketplace because it will provide an unparalleled blend of the following elements:
(i) a focus on how modern occupational/organizational psychology and management principles can be applied to contemporary organizational issues (i.e. an 'effectiveness' angle)
(ii) a bespoke 'commercial and professional skills' component element to help students develop 'commercially literacy' and provide a practical understanding of how the principles of psychology are applied in the world of business and management
(iii) high vocational relevance informed by our strong research links with industry, and, throughout the teaching, a focus on real-world examples, scenarios, and problems to reinforce the relevance and applicability of the academic theories
(iv) tuition in the profession's growth areas based on our unique in-house expertise (e.g. socio-technical systems, change management, leader development)
(v) in-depth research dissertation focussing on a real world business problem, requiring the application of relevant theory and methods to provide insights and advice to the organization as to how to address the problem.
At the end of the programme students should:
-Understand relevant empirical and theoretical research literature from the domains of business psychology and management.
-Demonstrate an understanding of how to apply relevant psychological theory and business knowledge to tackle key business problems.
