Programme specification:
We live in the information age, where new information communication technologies have led to growth, opportunity and disruption for businesses; and many of the world’s most powerful brands are technology firms.
Information Systems and Information Management are of vital significance to businesses globally, and the management of information is now seen as a competitive necessity. Likewise, the effective use of technology is now at the top of the agenda for most organisations. Alongside accelerating information flows, complexity and volume, the skills to manage and drive opportunity through Information Management/Information Systems are becoming of key importance to organisations. These skills are, however, scarce, particularly amongst managers; and many organisations currently struggle with this area of business. We believe that this area will grow in significance over the following years and this programme will meet the expectations of both leading organisations and Master’s students.
At the core of the programme is the view that we would like to produce graduates who are systems thinkers and are confident innovators. They should be pro-active, able to think laterally and holistically, and able to work in an unstructured environment with strong entrepreneurial skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
Students taking this programme will be exposed to a range of emerging and future technologies (social media, cloud computing, analytics, wireless communications) and business models. At the same time, the programme will be underpinned by established and emergent management theory.
