Programme specification:
By the end of the programme, students will also have acquired a wide range of generic research skills in experimental and analytical techniques, communication, team working and problem solving. Students will be well equipped for a professional or research career in issues relating to transport and the environment in government, consultancy and research.
This programme is designed to:
- give students from a wide variety of backgrounds a firm grounding in the principles, techniques, issues and practice of transport planning and the environment.
- equip students with the knowledge and skills required to understand and propose solutions to promote effective solutions to environmentally related transport problems which fit within the broader aims of transport and social policy.
Graduates will be equipped with core technical knowledge in data collection, modelling, planning methods and engineering design. Further specialisation in environmental policy, or environmental monitoring/modelling practice will enable students to demonstrate a set of skills focussed on the environmental aspects of transport planning.
Students will be capable of developing a range of practical solutions such as designing less polluting transport systems through to evaluating environmental taxation policy.
