- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- All applicants will be interviewed as part of the admissions process.
- Outside of special cases it is envisaged that students will be aged 21 years plus.

Programme specification:

The programme will provide a broad foundational route into the study of social sciences and law for mature non traditional students who wish to attain the skills and attributes necessary for further study at undergraduate level. The programme will provide students with basic knowledge of approaches, concepts, theories and principles relevant to social scientific and legal understandings and interpretations of the social world.

Throughout, the level 0 places strong emphasis on the development of relevant study/transferable skills and a responsible approach to learning through a set of compulsory core modules (80 credits). In semester two the programme facilitates an element of choice and students are able to select two modules (40 credits) that reflect their personal interests and routes for future study at undergraduate degree level.

Students who successfully complete the level 0 in social science will have acquired the level of academic skills, knowledge and self confidence necessary for them to become the reflexive, independent learners required in higher education institutions and also the wider contemporary employment market. On successful completion of the level 0 all students will then transfer on to one of the named pathways leading to an award of the University as detailed below.
