Programme specification:
At the end of the programme students should:
1. demonstrate a broad multi-disciplinary knowledge of relationships and interdependencies between physical geography and geology, with particular attention to the study of earth surface processes, landscapes and sediments.
2. be able to apply techniques of data collection, mapping, analysis and interpretation relevant to physical geography and geology - these will include field interpretation and measurement, laboratory experimentation, and mathematical, statistical and GIS-based modelling.
3. demonstrate research skills, particularly as evident in the preparation of a dissertation or other substantial research project.
4. demonstrate a range of transferable skills, including the use of Information Technology, numeracy, communication and team work, investigation and critical analysis, creative thinking, and effective writing.
5. be able to apply both subject specific and generic skills to tasks related to the external workplace.
