Programme specification:

The following conditions will apply for progression to Years 2, 3 and 4:
- Students must obtain at least 100 credits and obtain a mark of at least 30% in any failed module.
- For progression to Year 4 of MEng programmes, students' performance over Years 2 and 3 must also meet the minimum requirement for a Lower Second (IIii) BEng classification.

Rapid advances in electronics, computer hardware and software development have led to numerous innovations in multimedia products for entertainment and the performing arts. Digital media are also increasingly important for non-traditional areas such as commerce, medicine and science. The Music, Multimedia and Electronics (MME) programme is an intellectually and creatively challenging programme that provides academic rigour and a high degree of technical insight.

A key feature of the programme is the substantial studio/laboratory component, which will enable students to experiment with various means of music and audio synthesis and analysis. In contrast to many programmes offered in the electronics & music theme, this programme will challenge students to develop their knowledge of music theory and demonstrate creativity through a range of compositions.

The final year of the programme will include a major project, for which the students may choose to develop their own specialism or work in a small group on a more substantial multi-facetted project. The course offers cutting-edge interdisciplinary study in music technology, multimedia software and electronic hardware and is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge for careers including digital media, consumer electronics, broadcasting and studio engineering, production and professional music.
