Programme specification:
The programme provides an opportunity for students from a wide range of pharmacy practice environments to work with each other and learn from each other, mixing students from both primary and secondary care pharmacy
There is flexibility in the course, both within modules and also a range of optional modules allowing the development of the skills of pharmacists as flexible practitioners according to their developing interests and the opportunities provided by their personal care load with their work environment. The optional modules also give opportunities for pharmacists to learn with other healthcare professionals
The course sets out a clear partnership between the university, the student and their work-base manager and work-based tutor, and this together with assessment methods linked to the students’ practice and work requirements allows for a strong work based learning focus.
The use of learning needs analysis, learning contracts and self reflection makes the course integrated with the GpHC CPD framework
The course provides assessment of MUR and PI to enable pharmacists to prepare for delivering advanced services within the community pharmacy contract, which is important as many students commonly practice across both primary and secondary care.
