Upper second class degree in law or equivalent (including suitably qualified non-law graduates).
The language requirement will be the standard one for entry to a taught masters programme in the Law School.

Programme specification:
The distinctiveness of the programme lies in its coherent provision of postgraduate level study in the area of Banking & Finance Law which is an area of growing importance nationally and internationally.
Students on this programme will develop a specialised and detailed knowledge of the law both from a domestic and international perspective.
Successful completion of this module will ensure that students have the necessary research skills in banking & finance law to work independently and effectively on their research projects (in particular in the context of the dissertation).
Programme aims -
At the end of the programme students should be able to:
- Understand and apply complex rules of Banking & Finance Law to novel problems and real-world and hypothetical scenarios;
- Critically evaluate the legal rules and underlying policies concerning Banking & Finance Law;
- Undertake independent research and construct legal argument in the appropriate form; and
- Work independently to prescribed timescales, including contributing in seminar discussions to the critical evaluation of issues relating to all aspects of financial law.

Any student who has not studied Company Law, or who has done so, but not in a common law jurisdiction, must select Corporate Law (LAW5550M) as an option in Semester One.
