Programme specification:

The aims of the BA in Geography with Transport Studies are to provide students with:

1) An opportunity to study the discipline of human geography and to focus on transport planning in more detail as they progress through the programme.
2) A balanced curriculum which enables the acquisition of a range of practical, computational, research and problem solving skills as well as the development of factual and conceptual knowledge of human geography and transport planning.
3) A structured sequence of compulsory, optional and discovery modules with an appropriate combination of teaching, learning and assessment methods, providing a clear progression from one level to the next.
4) An environment in which they can achieve their full potential in terms of the development of communication and presentation capabilities that are relevant to a wide range of career opportunities.

Students wishing to take GEOG2150 will need to have taken GEOG1400 at Level 1.

Optional modules:

Candidates will be required to take a minimum of 50 credits from the following optional modules:

- At least 20 credits must be taken from GEOG modules.
- At least 20 credits must be taken from TRAN modules.
Candidates are advised to balance their module credits equally across both semesters.
Please note that GEOG2062 and GEOG2661 are mutually exclusive.

Students wishing to take GEOG2100 will have either GEOG1400 or GEOG2150 as prerequisites.

Candidates participating in a recognised exchange as part of the 4-year international programme will spend a year studying abroad between levels 2 and 3.

Candidates participating in a recognised industrial placement as part of the 4-year industrial programme will spend a year working between levels 2 and 3.

Students wishing to take GEOG2150 will need to have taken GEOG1400 at Level 1.

Optional modules:

Candidates should take 40 - 60 credits from the following list of modules:

- Up to 60 credits from below list, of which at least 20 must be GEOG classroom based (i.e. not GEOG3070, GEOG3535 or GEOG3510) and 10 must be TRAN.

-please note that GEOG3535 and GEOG3510 are mutually exclusive and cannot be taken together.

There will be two field class options. Students can choose either to go on the Virtual field trip to Sicily in Semester 1 or go on the in-person UK-based field class module in Semester 2. These are mutually exclusive modules – you can only choose one. Students do not have to take either option.

Students that took GEOG2470 Sicily: Exploring the Migration Crisis cannot take GEOG3070.
Students wishing to take GEOG3195 will need to have taken either GEOG1400 at Level 1 or GEOG2150 at Level 2
Students wishing to take GEOG3440 will need to have taken either GEOG2060, GEOG2062 or GEOG2661.
