The programme provides integration within and between semesters; this counters the fragmentary nature of the discipline and allows students to be more autonomous thinkers and practitioners of psychology. Although not accredited, the programme seeks to meet most of the requirements as set out by the professional body (The British Psychological Society) and to meet (or exceed) the modal Benchmark statements for Psychology.
The progressive learning of research skills through the statistics element contained in the first few weeks of the Intercalating Medics Research Project module and the Research Skills 3 module, culminating in the final level research project, combined with additional skills training in the autonomous use of PC-based Experiment-Generators provides students with greater flexibility in their own practical work designs.
The inclusion of subjective specific induction sessions (attached to each module) enables students to undertake self-directed reading and research reviews to reflect, in more depth, upon issues covered in each of the modules.
