Entry requirements:

If your Masters requires an overall IELTS score of 6.5, you'll need:
- A minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0
- Two components below 6.0 allowed*
- No components below 5.5

*You'll study for two semesters, or one semester plus summer, if you hold two components at 5.5 and are preparing for: a taught postgraduate course in the Business School, MSc (Eng) Engineering Project Management, or MSc (Eng) International Construction Management and Engineering.

If your Masters requires an overall IELTS score of 7.0, you'll need:
- A minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5
- Two components below 6.5 allowed**
- No components below 6.0

**You'll study for two semesters, or one semester plus summer, if you hold two components at 6.0 and are preparing for a taught postgraduate course in the Business School.

If you're going on to study a degree which includes Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), you'll need:
- A minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5
- Two components at 5.5 allowed
- No components below 5.5

Programme specification:

This programme is an English language pre-sessional designed to support students who either do not meet the English language requirements for their chosen taught postgraduate programme or who wish to gain a better understanding of the academic language and literacy practices in their area of study.

This programme will help students develop the language skills, knowledge and understanding required for postgraduate study. Students will study core content relating to studying in a UK higher education context to help them develop their language competence and ability to communicate at an appropriate academic level within their chosen field of study. Students will have the chance to work both individually and with others through a series of classes, seminars and tutorials.
