Entry requirements:

Normally a bachelor degree with a 2.1 honours (or equivalent) and some interest in or knowledge of philosophy.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each component skill.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 94 with no less than 21 in listening, 23 in reading, 23 in speaking and 24 in writing.

Programme specification:

The programme will:

1. introduce students to some current debates in Philosophy research and enable them to locate their own position and pursue their own interests in relation to those debates;
2. enable students to fill gaps in their undergraduate study of philosophy;
3. provide students with the opportunity to overview some major historical and philosophical themes in understanding the history of philosophy and the contribution of contemporary philosophy;
4. allow students to pursue a personal interest in a specialised area of Philosophy by taking an appropriate optional module;
5. develop students' skills in the practice of independent research in a specialised area of Philosophy;
6. prepare students for efficient completion of a PhD in Philosophy.
