Entry requirements:
Students must have the following:-
1. Normally a BSc (Hons.) in Diagnostic Radiography (at least 2:1)
2. Have secured a suitable clinical placement (where appropriate) and:
o employment with, or secondment to, a diagnostic imaging department or with access to diagnostic imaging facilities, approved by the University of Leeds
o identification of a2suitable clinical mentors within this department
o Employer’s agreement to undertake the course and provide adequate time and facilities to meet the learning outcomes of the programme.
o Satisfactory references and attendance at an admissions event
Advanced standing
Students who have successfully completed the Mammography Practice (ARCS5267M) module at the University of Leeds within the last five years may access the MSc as long as they have maintained their clinical practice/CPD in the interim.
Opportunities for accreditation of prior certificated learning (APCL) and or accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL) are available.
English language requirements
English to the standard equivalent of level 7 on IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with no element below 6.5.
International students
International students will be able to access the course if they have an approved clinical placement in their home country with 2 suitably trained mentors. All students must attend all the required face-to-face taught content on campus and be able to access all the synchronous online taught elements of the course.

Programme specification:
The Postgraduate Diagnostic Imaging suite of programmes will deliver a high quality, research-led educational experience in order to develop highly competent practitioners who contribute positively to healthcare service provision. This suite of programmes is multidisciplinary and will appeal to a wide range of local, national and international healthcare professionals who wish to develop their academic and clinical skills, in-depth knowledge and understanding, research and professional practice in specialist areas in diagnostic imaging such as Breast Imaging.
Programme content
All students who undertake imaging practice modules need employment with or secondment to, a clinical diagnostic imaging department or with access to imaging facilities.
All students undertaking programmes on the Breast Imaging pathway will study a combination of the compulsory modules (Professional Issues in Diagnostic Imaging) plus at least one Imaging Practice module :-
o Negotiated Imaging Practice
o Breast ultrasound
Module available is:-
o Image Guided Interventional Procedures
The Mammography Practice module is available to qualified Radiographers wishing to qualify as Mammographers. Students already qualified as mammographers/diagnostic radiographers/other healthcare professions can undertake the following modules in combination with Professional Issues in Diagnostic Imaging as part of a programme:-
o Preliminary Evaluation of Diagnostic Images
o Evaluation and Reporting Diagnostic Images
o Negotiated Imaging Practice/Focussed Negotiated Imaging Practice
o Image Guided Interventional Procedures
Students undertaking the MSc will also study the following compulsory modules :
o Research for Diagnostic Imaging
o Diagnostic Imaging Dissertation
