Programme specification:
The programme will:
- Combine the advantage of providing a social science programme in conjunction with Arabic language. The combination results in wealth of topics covered in the syllabus ranging from Arabic language and linguistics, Middle Eastern culture and society, history, politics, religions and literatures of the region.
- Feature the year abroad as a distinctive component of this programme, which allows students to enhance their language competence, and also offers them the possibility to live in an Arab country, study Arabic in an Arabic speaking environment and to mix with Arab communities.
- Provide a varied range of transferable skills attractive to potential employers, for example: knowledge of other cultures and religions in a multi-cultural society, ethical and political awareness; the qualities of an intelligent global citizen.
- Provide a wide range of career opportunities. Our graduates have embarked on careers in the industrial, media and journalism, commercial, diplomatic and administrative sectors, where possession of another language is increasingly advantageous. Our graduates found employment in teaching, business, finance and international banking, translation, law, tourism and diplomacy.
