Academic entry requirements:
- A bachelor's degree with a 2:1 (hons) in a scientific subject allied with medicine, including, but not limited to, anatomy, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or biomedical science.
- A bachelor’s degree with a 2.2 (hons) in a scientific subject allied with medicine, including, but not limited to, anatomy, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or biomedical science, with two years or more of appropriate work experience in health subject area.
- Medical students who have successfully completed three, or four years, of a UK medical degree and wish to take the MRes course as an intercalated programme.
English language requirements:
IELTS 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.0 in writing and no less than 6.5 in all other components.

Programme specification:
Programme Aims
At the end of the MRes programme students should demonstrate theoretical and applied knowledge of research skills in medicine. This encompasses evaluating published research, formulation of new hypotheses to explore experimental evidence of the causes of and consequences of disease and conducting research in the laboratory or with patients.
Distinctiveness of the programme
The programme will:
- Provide students with research skills and projects in excellent facilities at advanced level.
- Explore the process of scientific publication and the importance of dissemination of research knowledge.
- Provide medical students with the opportunity of intercalating at master's level.
