Learning outcomes

On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:

* Apply their specialist knowledge and understanding gained during their studies into the workplace context
* Demonstrate enhanced practical knowledge, experience and skill in areas such as commerce, manufacturing and research relevant to their programme of study
* Understand how to apply their work-based learning to other areas of personal development, including academic performance
* Present their skills and knowledge effectively to prospective employers
* Reflect on experiences and identify their own strengths and areas for development
* Demonstrate an understanding of employment and career opportunities

Transferable (key) skills

The Industrial Placement will provide an opportunity to develop a set of transferable skills. On completion of the placement, students should be able to show evidence of the following skills:

Assessment

Coursework
A Report to include: skills development appraisal; description of Placement Provider's business and organisation; description of placement activities; portfolio of evidence.

Oral Presentation
An account of the placement experience in reference to personal and academic skills development.

Learning context

The learning context for this year/award will include the use of complex and unpredictable situations. The study will be structured within a framework that provides both breadth and depth and opportunities for demonstrating proficiency in the application of concepts and techniques. Opportunities will be provided for students to develop interests and informed opinions and to undertake some autonomous study.
