Learning outcomes
On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:- demonstrate understanding of key concepts and principles underlying the study of language and education;- demonstrate practical competencies which are standard features in the study of language and education;- communicate the results of their learning effectively and with confidence in English and in an additional foreign language;- present a structured and coherent simple argument;- demonstrate an ability to apply theoretical understandings to the analysis of language and the practice of teaching language;- demonstrate a reflective approach to the study of language and education;- articulate understanding of language learning processes illustrated with personal experiences.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:- qualities and transferable skills necessary for professional work in learning and teaching language;- skills necessary for communicating learning;- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and decision making;- skills necessary reflect critically and organise and present ideas effectively;- language skills which will enable communication in multilingual contexts.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:- demonstrating the ability to communicate a broad range of knowledge and competencies;- the ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion- demonstrating a broad knowledge base.
