Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:- an ability to communicate confidently and proficiently with native or other competent speakers of Italian across the sometimes unpredictable and complex range of aspects of everyday life, work and/or study in a foreign culture - demonstrate first-hand academic and practical knowledge of a contemporary Italian culture.- Demonstrate enhanced cultural self-awareness- develop personal independence, self-confidence, and the social and interpersonal skills required by group life.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practise:- oral, written and practical skills in Italian;- the organisation of life and study in Italy;- inter-personal skills required to operate in Italian society- the ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;- skills necessary for the communication of information;- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and decision making.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes specified for the residence abroad and will include:- evaluation of information from the host institution e.g. university examination results, university attendance certificates, or reports on assistantships or work placements;- regular submission of reports and assignments (in English/Italian) in December and April; - submission of an essay assignment (in Italian) by May
