Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:- engage in everyday conversation, write basic sentences and read simple texts in Thai.- acquire academic and practical knowledge of contemporary Thailand.- develop personal independence, self-confidence, and the social and interpersonal skills required by group life.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practise:- oral, written and practical skills in Thai;- the organisation of life and study in Thailand;- inter-personal skills required to operate in Thai society- the ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;- skills necessary for the communication of information;- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and decision making.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes specified for the residence abroad and will include:- report on a (research) project of 5,000-7,000 words (to be submitted at the end of June)- logbook report of at least 2,500 words (to be submitted at the end of June)
