BSc Business Analytics

Year 3

Learning outcomes

On completion of Year 3, students should have provided evidence of being able to:

LO1 (Year 3): Further demonstrate advanced knowledge of decision making with specific emphasis on strategic decision making in organisations
LO2 (Year 3): Research business problems independently with the ability to identify and conceptualise the critical factors involved, critically review existing evidence, and source and collect relevant data
LO3 (Year 3): Apply appropriate analytical tools independently in a methodologically correct, accurate and rigorous manner to analyse business problems in a work-based setting
LO4 (Year 3): Critically evaluate and interpret the results of data analysis undertaken independently in a work-based setting and derive the implications for decision makers
LO5 (Year 3): Write and communicate effectively in a work-based setting including the preparation of professional-level reports and other documents to support management decision making
LO6 (Year 3): Exhibit professional-level standards in their presentation skills
LO7 (Year 3): Work highly effectively in teams, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and excellent ability to function sensitively and productively when working with others
LO8 (Year 3): Demonstrate excellent awareness of ethics, integrity and responsibility in undertaking data analysis to support management decision making
LO9 (Year 3): Demonstrate excellent awareness of globalisation and the importance of cultural insight in management and business
LO10 (Year 3): Reflect critically on their own learning experiences in a work-based setting

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- the transferable/key/generic skills necessary for employment related to business analytics;
- the exercise of initiative and personal responsibility;
- the deployment of decision making skills in complex and unpredictable situations;
- the communication of information, ideas, problems and solutions in a variety of ways to a variety of audiences;
- the ability to undertake appropriate further training of a professional or equivalent nature;

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for Year 3 and will include:

- demonstrating the ability to apply a broad range of aspects of business analytics and related business disciplines
- work that draws on a wide variety of material
- the ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion
- evidence of an ability to conduct independent, in depth enquiry within business analytics and related business disciplines
- work that is typically both evaluative and creative
