MA Organizational Behaviour

Learning outcomes

These are consonant with the school's mission, expected outcomes, and strategies. On completion of the course students should be able to:

1. Describe and critically compare, evaluate and apply the theories, concepts, empirical research from the domain of organizational behaviour to contemporary organisational problems;
2. Communicate a good understanding of current debates and relevant controversies through critical appraisal of empirical and theoretical research and case studies;
3. Demonstrate a solid understanding of research design, and be able to apply this knowledge in designing and managing applied research;
4. Present complex (at times competing) ideas, and advice in an accessible manner appropriate for a business audience;
5. Discern the ethical issues at stake in individual and collective decisions;
6. Work effectively with others to solve complex organisational problems;
7. Undertake an original and independent piece of applied research, employing appropriate research methods and methods of data analysis in order to address and provide recommendations in relation to organisational problems relating to individuals or groups of individuals which take account of ethical and cultural sensitivities.

Summative assessment

The degree to which students meet the intended learning outcomes is measured and assessed in the following ways:

- Case study assignment [Modules: 5395M, LUBS5386M];
- Data analysis coursework assignment [Module: 5395M];
- Group assessment[Module: LUBS5399M Understanding and managing effective groups and teams];
- Written essay: [Module: LUBS5393M].
- Reflective log [Module: LUBS5399M Understanding and managing effective groups and teams].
- Dissertation thesis [Module: LUBS5391M].


Formative assessment and feedback

Students on the programme are given formative feedback to assist their progression towards the intended outcomes in range of ways and throughout the duration of the programme:
- Workshop and case study activities are embedded in the teaching time for all taught modules, to enable students to be given feedback on their knowledge acquisition, application of knowledge, and skill development
- Each student has an allocated dissertation supervisor to provide them with specialist guidance and formative feedback on their ideas throughout the duration of their project [Module: LUBS5391M].
