Learning outcomes
- to demonstrate some specialist knowledge of, and awareness of techniques relevant to the study of aspects of teaching, learning and assessment; - to demonstrate a secure understanding of techniques and rationale for classroom-based practitioner research and advanced scholarship; - to demonstrate the capacity to describe, analyse and evaluate aspects of their own practice and that of other education professionals; - to demonstrate the ability to recognise distinctive features of a particular educational context and how these might impact upon teaching and learning; - with guidance, to develop ideas for classroom-based enquiry through formulation of hypotheses, development, implementation and execution of plans, analysis and evaluation of outcomes; - to appreciate the value of evidence-based practice as a vehicle for professional development and school improvement;

EDUC5015M Developing Teaching and Learning Through Evidence-based Practice - Critical engagement with research and writings and professional debate about dealing with a range of aspects of teaching and learning. Development of a range of practitioner enquiry skills. Independent ability to complete a classroom-based enquiry with guidance.
Assessment
EDUC5015M Developing Teaching and Learning Through Evidence-based Practice- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a full range of key aspects of teaching, learning and assessment, along with appropriate enquiry methodology, to prepare two reports (3,000 words each) on activity in own classroom. Critically evaluate findings and consider implications for own professional development. The two assignments will focus on: 1. analysis and evaluation of classroom dialogue 2. analysis of barriers to learning and how these might be addressed
