MSc Psychological Approaches to Health

Learning outcomes

The objectives of the programme are that by the end of the programme, students should have an in-depth knowledge of:

- the major issues and concerns surrounding psychological well-being and healthcare delivery;
- the range of methods and issues relating to a psychologically informed evidence base;
- the psychological impact at micro and macro levels of new health technologies;
- the relevance and potential applicability of psychological theory and research to health-related concerns;
- relevant health issues and the application of contemporary theory in proposing solutions for measuring or addressing problems related to those issues;
- designing and carrying out a research project in a health-related domain that relates a specific health issue to a proposed solution;
- analysing and writing-up the above research within the broader context of health-related issues and solutions.

Students should also be able to identify relevant health issues, and to suggest application of contemporary theory in proposing solutions for measuring or addressing problems related to those issues.
