Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students should have provided evidence of being able to:

- demonstrate familiarity with key concepts and principles underlying the study of language and education;
- demonstrate familiarity with practical competencies which are standard features in the study of language and education;
- communicate the results of their learning effectively and with confidence;
- present a structured and coherent simple argument;
- demonstrate a reflective approach to the study of language and education;
- demonstrate an ability to apply theoretical understandings to the analysis of language and the practice of teaching language.

Transferable (key) skills

Students will have had the opportunity to acquire, as defined in the modules specified for the programme:

- qualities and transferable skills necessary for professional work in learning and teaching language;
- skills necessary for communicating learning.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will include:

- demonstrating the ability to communicate a broad range of knowledge and competencies;
- the ability to evaluate and criticise received opinion.
