Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:- an ability to communicate confidently and proficiently with native or other competent speakers of Spanish across the sometimes unpredictable and complex range of aspects of everyday life, work and/or study in a foreign culture - demonstrate first-hand academic and practical knowledge of a contemporary Spanish-speaking culture.- Demonstrate enhanced cultural self-awareness- develop personal independence, self-confidence, and the social and interpersonal skills required by group life.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practise:- oral, written and practical skills in Spanish;- the organisation of life and study in a Spanish-speaking country;- inter-personal skills required to operate in a Spanish-speaking society- the ability to appreciate their strengths and weaknesses as learners;- skills necessary for the communication of information;- skills necessary for the exercising of personal responsibility and decision making.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes specified for the residence abroad and will include:- successful completion of the requisite number of credits at the students' host university or receipt of satisfactory feedback as to student performance from the foreign education institution or employer
