Year 3

Learning outcomes

On completion of the year/programme students who spend this year in Italy should have acquired skills enabling them to:
- communicate fluently and appropriately, maintaining a high degree of grammatical accuracy, in Italian with native or other competent speakers;
- consolidate and extend knowledge and understanding of complex structures and registers of Italian;
- demonstrate sophisticated receptive and productive language skills, in a variety of contexts;
- demonstrate an awareness and understanding of a culture and society other than their own.

Transferable (key) skills

Students who spend this year in Italy will have had the opportunity to acquire skills enhancing their ability to:
- use language creatively and communicate information and ideas;
- demonstrate self-reliance and adaptability in developing an awareness and understanding of a culture and society other than their own
- exercise personal responsibility and decision making.

Assessment

Achievement will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes specified for the year/programme and will include, for students who spend this year in Italy:
- submission and evaluation of completed Year Abroad Logbook;
- evaluation of information from the host institution eg university examination results, university attendance certificates, reports on assistantships or work placements.
